Day 1 arrival Ulan Bator
You arrive in Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia. After arriving at the Djinghiz Khan Airport you will be driven to your centrally-located hotel. The city has all the impressions of a drab, dilapidated Soviet city, but you will quickly discover that there's lots to do. Around the central artery of the city, Peace Avenue, there are countless shops, bars, terraces and restaurants. The street gives you a good impression of the Mongolian population; old men in traditional attire mix with young people dressed in the latest trends. Today you can begin to explore the city.Day 2 Ulan Bator
Today visit the famous highlights of the city. You start at the Ganden Khiid, the most important Buddhist temple in Ulan Bator. Its impressive white prayer hall rises above the other buildings and is visited by a mix of tourists, worshipers and pilgrims. You can walk through the complex and see the giant Buddha statue. Next is the Chojjin Lama Temple, one of the oldest in the country. The slightly dilapidated temple is one of the most striking buildings on Peace Avenue and contrasts sharply with the blue mirrored windows of the ultra-modern office complex behind it. The interior resembles Tibetan temples, but it has several images of the Bogd Khan, the spiritual and secular leader of the Mongols. There are also some remarkable sculptures by the famous Mongolian artist Zanabazar. From the outside it looks like Chinese temples, a style that is also reflected in the Winter Palace of Bogd Khan which is now a museum you can visit outside the city center. There is a beautiful view of the city from a vista that also features images of Lenin and Sukhabataar, remnants of the Soviet era. You can then visit the State History Museum and stroll through the glorious past of Mongolia, one of the greatest empires to exist in an area that is now on the periphery of the world stage. One of the highlights of the museum is the display of costumes of the many peoples and tribes of Mongolia. You can see some of these traditional costumes in action in the evening by visiting a performance of Buddhist body dancing accompanied by the famous throat singers.Day 3 flight Ulan Bator - Olgii, transfer Sagsay river
You will fly in to Olgii, the capital of the Bayaan Olgii province, in the far west of the country. Here you are in a completely different world than that of Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia. The vast majority of the population here is Kazakh and, like the Mongols, they lead a nomadic existence. They can be found in an area that stretches from Kazakhstan to parts of China, Russia, Uzbekistan, and of course Mongolia. The Kazakhs are Sunni Muslim, though they are certainly not orthodox in doctrine and follow a loose version of Islam. Married Kazakh women wear a colorful flowered kerchief bound tightly around their head s. The original inhabitants of this region are the Uriankhai. Their tents (ger) look slightly different from those of the Kazakhs and the Mongols. It's fun to learn the differences between the appearance of the ger of various tribes. The felt Uriankhai ger are held together by eight ropes while the Mongolian ger have four. You will first visit the town of Olgii which certainly has a unique atmosphere. The wind has free play and you will see people strolling in the streets protected by thick coats, fur boots and even masks. Cows wander loose on the streets here, like in India, looking for treats on the dusty concrete sidewalks. After Olgii you will drive to the Sagsay River. Here you will pitch the tents and camp on the banks of the fast-flowing river.Day 4 transfer to Shiveet Kharkhai mountains
Your journey continues to the majestic Altai Mountains. You will stop at the last place that is accessible by car, the Shiveet Kharkai Mountains. Here you will learn about a Kazakh family and see how they live. Horses can be rented to carry the luggage and preparations will be made for the trek. Here you are at an elevation of 2500- 3000 meters.Day 5 Altai Tavan Bogd trek National Park

Tavan Bogd means “the Five Sacred Mountains.” The various peaks are the Khuiten Uul (4374 m), Malchin, Naran, Burged, and Olgii.Day 8 trek Khoton and Khurgan
